Blade-free, Custom LASIK: Unique Treatment for Your Unique Eyes
LASIK (laser-assisted intrastromal in-situ keratomileusis) is a laser vision correction procedure that reshapes your cornea in order to reduce nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism (refractive errors).
It’s important to note that there are varying levels of refractive errors for every unique eye. There will be microscopic imperfections in your corneal shape that are unlike any other person’s – even if you have a similar eyeglass prescription as someone else. In the past (and still today in some LASIK centers), LASIK was performed based on an eyeglass prescription only so crystal-clear vision may not have been achieved for some patients.
Today, LASIK patients at Rosenbaum Eye & Laser Center are at a distinct advantage!
We have invested in the very latest blade-free, highly customized LASIK technologies to perform this procedure with exquisite precision:
- iDESIGN Refractive Studio to measure the tiny hills and valleys of your unique eyes
- IntraLase femtosecond laser (iLASIK) for creation of the corneal flap
- VISX STAR S4 IR excimer laser for corneal reshaping
We’ve combined the world’s most advanced vision correction advancements into one safe and effective procedure that truly personalizes your vision correction based on your precise, individual vision needs. The result? Better eyesight results than ever!
How LASIK Works:
To begin with, 3-D mapping captures your personalized refractive signature which, like a fingerprint, is unique to each of your eyes and provides the customized correction needed to personalize your iLASIK treatment.
Next, a very thin, precise flap of corneal tissue is created with a femtosecond laser.
This flap is gently folded back, and your personalized iLASIK procedure is performed.
Only the iLASIK Procedure combines the technology that persuaded NASA to allow laser vision correction for their astronauts.
