Blepharitis

Blepharitis is an inflammation of the eyelids, usually located where the eyelashes are attached.  It can cause red, irritated, and itchy eyelids. Occasionally, you may notice flaky, dandruff-like scales on the eyelashes.  It is a disorder usually caused by a bacteria or a skin condition such as acne rosacea.  Blepharitis is not contagious and does not cause any permanent damage to eyesight.  There are different treatments available to treat blepharitis.  After an evaluation, one of our doctors can prescribe the best course of treatment for your particular condition.
